Annular Eclipse
I travelled to Mt. Lassen National Park on May 20, 2012 to capture the 2012 Annular Eclipse. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun, causing the Sun to look like an annulus, or ring, blocking most of the Sun's light.Over the course of several hours, I captured the event from first limb crossing to totality using a hydrogen-alpha bandpass limited solar telescope. Each frame in the time-lapse sequence represents 9 individual frames combined into a high-dynamic-range image to fully capture the features on the solar disk and outer limb.
