The shuttle bay is in view through the bay windows of
Discovery's flight deck. The joystick in the center helps astronauts complete precision positioning--with the help of external thrusters--when approaching the
International Space Station or other docking destination. In the bottom right corner a Canadian government logo indicates the controls for
Canadarm, a 15.2 meter-long external robotic appendage used to maneuver payloads. Canadarm represents an important instance of international space program cooperation.
