I take as much care producing a print as I do taking a photograph. As a physicist, I get to finally put all those chemistry courses to good use and produce prints that are of exceptional quality and archival longevity while pH-neutral and resistant to UV damage, fading, yellowing and pollutant degradation. I personally review every step of the photo production process to ensure that your print, framed print or canvas product is flawless. I use my own in-house equipment and archival techniques in a laboratory setting for complete control over the production process. Below, you can learn more about the products I offer along with order details. All products are printed, manufactured and assembled by me in Palo Alto, California.
My prints are produced according to the highest archival quality standards. Both ink and paper are engineered for resistance to moisture, pollutants and fading for over a century. For information on how to keep your print looking great, see the product maintenance section.
I standardly use Epson's® Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster, but offer a range of archival-quality papers including fine-art matte and fiber-based glossy among others. I recommend choosing fine-art papers in studio by taking a look at the swatch book to decide on the perfect paper for your print. I offer all of Epson's Signature Worthy papers below as well as rice paper and dye-sublimation printing on brushed aluminum.

Each print has been designed to maintain the accuracy and color richness of our top-of-the-line printing technology, while preventing yellowing and paper degradation. Your print ships with acid-free tissue paper for storage and protection. Prints up to 8.5'' x 11'' are shipped flat while larger prints may ship in document tubes. Framed prints are also available.
Canvas is an exciting recent addition to my product offerings. An acid free, lignin free heavyweight cotton-poly blend, this elegantly textured canvas features soft-gloss surface with a bright white point, exceptionally high Dmax and wide color gamut. It provides a great fine-art finish with a glossy sheen that most of our clients instantly fall in love with. The poly-cotton blend has been engineered to maximize resolution and color absorption while minimizing cracking. The material is exhibition quality and built for archival longevity, with built-in resistance to yellowing and moisture damage. The canvas base is enhanced with elastic polymers providing high tensile strength and flexibility for gallery wrap stretching without cracking. Canvas prints come with at least a 2'' border of blank canvas for stretching onto a stretcher frame. If you are interested in mounted canvas prints, check out the canvas wraps above.
I process all orders using the best and latest equipment in clarity and resolution from Epson®. For all images with at least one dimension of 13" or smaller, we use the Epson® Stylus Photo R3000 with a microscope challenging 5760 x 1440 dots per inch (dpi). All larger prints are processed using the Epson® 9900 series with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 dpi. Both printers use Epson UltraChrome K3 ink, known for its ability to produce prints with an extremely wide color gamut. With an 8-color system, it is the best existing material for accurately reproducing the vivid colors and three-dimensionality of the photographs.
All framed prints and canvas wraps of the size 20" x 30" and greater come in a reusable protective pouch with a Velcro® fastener. The fitted pouch is made of a lined, transparent bubble-wrap and designed for easy and safe transport and storage for the full life of your photograph.
Thank you for your support of my work at vedphoto! I hope you enjoy my hand-made artwork for years to come. Your print was produced using state-of-the-art archival quality materials engineered for longevity exceeding 300 years, but there are a couple things you can do to keep them looking great:
Prints - Prints should be placed in a frame with acid-free matting and a clear covering. I do offer custom frames separately. All luster prints have a resin coating to prevent photo degradation, absorb pollutants and provide UV protection. Aluminum prints are polymer coated and need not be framed or matted, but avoid direct sunlight.
Framed prints - Glass coverings can be cleaned as per usual. To keep a transparent acrylic covering clear and spotless, I recommend using Brillianize, a non-toxic solution excellent for both cleaning and reducing static. You should use Brillianize with a microfiber chamois (included) and avoid paper towels that will be abrasive to the smooth surface.
Canvas Wraps - Find a place where the room temperature is stable and there is moderate air circulation. Avoid locations close to heat sources, such as fireplaces or radiators, and avoid direct sunlight. Humid or moist environments might lead to the development of mold or warping in your artwork. To clean the canvas use a dry, lint-free cloth to lightly dust the surface along the direction of the canvas weave.
Silk and Rice Paper Scrolls - Avoid locations close to heat sources, such as fireplaces or radiators, and avoid direct sunlight. Humid or moist environments might lead to the development of mold or warping in your artwork. Store in acid-free boxes when not on display. Occasional cleaning with a dusting brush is fine, but rice paper will bleed on contact with liquids.
I deliver most large pieces in person around the San Francisco Bay Area to help with installation and ensure there is no damage in shipping. For other domestic and international orders, our shipping carrier has yet to let us down in protecting shipped pieces. If your artwork does arrive damaged, however, just send us a photo and description of the damage to initiate a return authorization for a full refund, including tax and shipping. Prior to your order processing, we will confirm the dimensions, framing and printing style with you. We cannot accept refunds on printed products due to a dimension or product choice error because of the significant costs of producing each piece. If you would like to see product swatches before purchasing, we would be happy to show the full collection as well as examples of canvas wraps and framed prints in our studio or during a client meeting.
